One of the issues to dog the Scania R series in recent years has been their cab bunk. The complex system of removeable inserts led to an unsatisfactory and cramped bed when compared to the competition. In Australia, the Volvo big cab gave them some extra space to fit a larger bunk to match that available in Kenworth, Mack and Freightliner.

Scania’s solution is this sliding bunk and it looks quite simple and effective. We shall have to wait and see what it will look like in the flesh when the first of the new trucks arrive next year. It is impossible to see from photos and video, but where is the extra bunk when the bed slides back?
