There’s an awful lot of trucks in Brazil
Sitting here in Australia we think have a full selection of the world’s trucks. Just about every major truck maker is on show in the Australian market, with Europe, Japan and the USA fully represented in about 17 brands.
However, there is another truck market with a similar range on offer and much bigger than our small 30,000 trucks a year sales figures. Brazil is a vast growing economy sucking in trucks to continue the country’s expansion. The recent truck show, ‘The 17th National Fair of Transport’ or FENATRAN was held recently in São Paulo, Brazil.
Here are a selection of the trucks on offer, many unavailable outside South America.
The Ford Cargo is extinct everywhere else but still battles on in Brazil.
This tanker takes on an unusual shape, perhaps it’s to lower the centre of gravity?
They do have something we would call a pocket B-double here in the form of a set of tipper trailers.
Australians are ute mad but I don’t think this Fiat double cab has quite the macho appeal of something like a Ford F 150.
Volvo sell the unusual VM model in South America. Essentially, it is an old FE chassis with a Renault cab.
Volkswagen only make trucks in Brazil and have three ranges covering the heavy duty sector.
Finally, why spoil a well designed good looking cab with such an awful paint design. It’s almost impossible to work out the truck brand.
