Here is a video of the Scania reversing test being carried out at the Anglesea testing grounds just off the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. The idea is to demonstrate the precise slow manoeuvring mode which has been added to the Opticruise automated gear box.In this exercise the patsy has to move the truck forward and in reverse before lining it up on a difficult undulating track. The idea is to finish up with the rear axle of the 6×4 P Series truck sitting directly on the piece of timber. Sounds easy and it is, it just needs careful feathering of the accelerator to get the job done (there is no clutch).This attempt wasn’t the best but most could get the tyre lined up pretty well.
