This is the kind of craziness it has got to, with traffic congestion in the UK. These trucks are lined up on the M20 motorway backed up from the ferries and Channel Tunnel in Folkestone waiting to cross over to France.

Anything can set off a series of events leading to hundreds of trucks stretching back miles into the Kent countryside. A strike by French dock workers or truckies, storms delaying ferry crossings can also hold things up. Even a busy week might cause a queue to form.

After an overcrowding event the queue can take days to clear. Just think about these poor truckies stuck in the middle of nowhere with nowhere to go, literally. Facilities are pretty thin on the ground in this area.

It’s just one of those things truckies in Europe have to put up with every now and then as the EU becomes more and more crowded. After spending a week in February in a truck on the motorway just south of Lyon in France, due to industrial action, I have nothing but sympathy for the poor buggers.
