Looking back

I have spent the day esconced in the bowels of the Minter Ellison building in Canberra. It’s the twentieth anniversary of the ATA coming up and I am researching a history of the organisation, going through their archives at their HQ.

These spy photos have reached us from Europe and illustrate a new tactic from the truck manufacturers to disguise the shape of the prototype trucks. These shots were taken in Italy and have appeared on the Italian truck website Tuttotrasporti.

Good on you, Ross

One of the truck industry’s gentlemen has been honoured by the Australian Trucking Association at their annual awards dinner on the Gold Coast when Ross McDonald of Cummins South Pacific recieved the 2009 Don Watson Memorial Award for lifetime achievement. He was presented the award by Noelene Watson, seen here with ATA Chairman Trevor Martyn.

Iveco looking to buy?

A report on Reuters is suggesting Iveco may be looking to buy or merge with a partner, presumably another truck manufacturer.
 
Iveco have been left behind in recent years with the emergence of global truck manufacturing groups like Daimler, Volvo, Paccar and Volkswagen/MAN/Scania.
